Shop, Mostar, Bosnia

Posted by Rhys (Darlington, United Kingdom) on 20 January 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

There appears to be lot of archive raiding going on at the moment. For this shot I've gone back in time to 2002 when my wife and I went on holiday to Croatia which has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. However, the landscape is peppered with various reminders of its history- bombed and burned-out buildings, bullet riddled walls, fields taped off due to land mines etc. It may have all changed now, but at the time the outstanding beauty combined with the echoes of violence and war made an interesting 'visual' holiday. This was shot on film (2002 was definitely pre-digital in my case) probably some kind of Fuji product and the camera was a Minolta Dynax 7000i.
For this shot, I first processed it in Lightroom (after scanning the neg) then in Photoshop, processed in LAB mode then back to Lightroom. I cant decide whether I prefer this version or the version I'll put up tomorrow.
Oh, this is in Mostar, Bosnia. We crossed the border for a day trip.
