Had a trip to Sandsend at the weekend. New Neutral Density Filter (ND8). This was the 'best' of a bad lot. I was hoping for some longer exposures - this is 2 secs - but there was still quite a bit of light about (despite it being about 4.30pm). I was also keeping my fingers crossed for some rougher seas- it was flat as a pancake, there was a fair off-shore breeze which just flattened the whole scene. This is also an exceptionally high spring tide so the beach was completely gone. Nevermind, the one thing I do like is the emptiness.

Now this is a great case study in how to effectively use lines in your images. Well done.

It has a seething end of the world look. The different textures and the lines that border them break the image up into interesting zones. The horizon is dramatic and unusual. Superb image.

Very nice image. The solid lines and the motion of the sea work well together.

I like the starkness of this shot. Its so minimal and yet so full of emotion. Nice work!

I agree with what's already been said: this is a very effective use of pictoral space. The lines of the pavement and the smoothness of the water are an effective combination, especially that middle zone of wetness where water and pavement meet. If this was the "best of a bad lot," by your description, we'd better hang on to our hats if you post an image you think is good! Well done.

ND flilters are on my wish-list . . Even if this fell short of some expectations in that regard, it still makes for one cool image. Love that smooth sky.

@Ronnie 2¢: thanks ronnie, got my ND filter from 7dayshop.com- their own brand are very cheap and so far they appear to do a reasonable job.
I like this image - 5 distinct levels to it & the lines drawing you in - I think the light is superb!
