The light shining in this rather forlorn place has given the image an optimistic cheerful mood. It has that magical special appeal that you see with light streaming through a thick bank of dark cloud. A wonderful image with the wires offering further interest and perspective.

@Michael Skorulski: Thanks Michael, I took this a few weeks ago and up until now I'd overlooked it. Whilst browsing through the archives the grey foundation slab in the foreground caught my eye and so the process began. The light on the day was typical for a winter sunny day, low sun, pale blue to dark blue skies all of which played a big part in how the sky appears in this shot. Normally, telegraph wires are something photographers would clone out, but as you quite rightly say, they play an important part in this image.
I'm glad you came back to this shot, it looks fantastic and the wires are perfectly situated.

A remarkable mono picture. Powerful. A silvered B&W. Very effective.

Wonderfully made too... Are you converting colour to b&w in your post processing? Or do you make b&w shot with your 20D? Wys

@Wysterior: For this shot I used Photoshop CS3's new feature which allows you to create a black and white adjustment layer and adjust all the colours manually as a greyscale. I haven't used this method much as I usually prefer to use the channel mixer. I have never used the B&W 'facility' on either my 20D or the 5D, I've heard that the tonal range, Image quality is not as good as when done PP.
I like the detail in the cement pad that once supported the building, but my eye wants to travel off into the distance, and is drawn into a vanishing point on the horizon by the telephone wires.
